The Open Grid Computing Environments Portal and Gateway Toolkit

The OGCE collaboration develops reusable portal components (JSR 168-compatible portlets), Web services, tools, and libraries for building Web portals for science gateways. We are an NSF-funded collaboration comprised of Indiana University, the Renaissance Computing Center, the Rochester Institute of Technology, San Diego State University, San Diego Supercomputer Center, and the Texas Advanced Computing Center. See Project Team for more information.

OGCE Portal Software

  • Grid credential management
  • Secure remote file management
  • Secure remote code execution
  • Views of Grid information services such as machine load, usage, and queue wait time
  • Workflow composers (XBaya)

OGCE Web Services

  • Grid information services (GPIR)
  • Code execution and management (GFAC)
  • Web Service registries (XRegistry)

Libraries

  • Portal-compatible versions of the Java COG Kit

OGCE2 2.3 Portal Release

The OGCE 2.3 release revises and simplifies the installation process. Using Maven 2 (provided in the release), the portal can be built with the command, single mvn clean install. See Installation for more information.

In addition to the GRAM, GridFTP, Condor, Condor-G, SRB, and other portlets from OGCE 2.x series, this release features several new portlets, including

 * QBETS queue prediction portlets from the TeraGrid User Portal
 * Revised GPIR portlets
 * Community File Manager portlets
 * XBaya workflow composer and monitor
 * Optional PBS/MOAB queue monitor

See individual portlet documentation on the left-hand navigation links.

OGCE Services and Tools

The OGCE builds several services and tools that can be used to build a full featured science gateway. These include

  • GFAC: a science application wrapping service.
  • XRegistry: a service registry.
  • GPIR: the Grid Portal Information Repository (used by the TeraGrid User Portal).
  • File Agent Service: a supplemental metadata service for managing TeraGrid community credentials.
  • GTLAB: a set of Java Server Faces tag libraries and JavaBeans for constructing new portal and portlet applications.

The old OGCE portal web sites are still available from http://www.collab-ogce.org/nmi and http://www.collab-ogce.org/ogce2/.
